  • What is Screen Printing?
Screen Printing is a printing technique where ink is forced through a mesh screen onto a surface using a squeegee. Making certain areas of the screen impervious to printing ink creates a stencil, which blocks the ink from passing through the screen. The ink that passes through forms the printed image on the desired surface. Customizable inks, meshes, and other materials are available to create any image or effect desired. Screen printing is a very popular method for producing apparel, as it provides longer-lasting designs than other methods.
  • What is Direct To Garment?
Direct-to-garment (DTG) is a digital printing method that uses specialized inkjet technology to print designs directly onto garments. DTG eliminates the need for screens, transfers, and other printing methods. The images and designs are printed directly onto the fabric of the garment, creating a soft, durable, and lasting print. Since its introduction to the apparel market, DTG printing has revolutionized the custom apparel industry by providing an affordable, efficient way to produce customized apparel.
  • How does the screen printing process work?
The entire process involves creating designs, transferring those designs to the screen, mixing colors, and then printing on the garments. It is a process that takes more time than one might think. After the design is determined, a stencil is created for each color from the original image and adhered to its own screen. Next ink colors are mixed to create the desired print colors. Then the ink is pulled across the printing frame that is located above the artwork The ink is then transferred to the garment creating the design. After all the colors have been applied to the garment, they are placed on a conveyor belt drier that cures the ink with infrared heating panels.
  • When should I use Screen Printing Vs Direct To Garment?
Direct-to-garment (DTG) printing uses a fabric printer to transfer an image directly to the garment. using a computerized image. DTG prints multiple colors at once making DTG great for detailed designs and photos. DTG is typically used for on-demand printing and is more cost effective for smaller orders or one-time designs. Screen Printing is great for texturized effects and solid blocks of color. Screen Printing involves more steps for multiple colors and has additional set-up fees. Screens with your artwork are available for purchase and can be saved, making it a better option for large quantities and reoccurring orders.

Screen printing offers a wider range of colors since you can mix them as you go. Embroidery is generally more durable than printing, so is ideal for outerwear and workwear.
  • What is sublimation?
Sublimation is an application method that uses heat to transfer dyes onto various substrates including plastic, fabric, wood, and paper. It works by using intense heat to convert the solid dye particles into a gas, which is then bonded to the receiving material, resulting in an image with vibrant colors and a durable finish. Sublimated designs are created by using a special printing process known as dye sublimation. In this printing process, a special dye-sublimation printer is used to apply the design to a piece of sublimation paper using heat and pressure. After the design is applied to the paper, it is placed on the desired material, such as polyester fabric. Heat and pressure are then applied for a few seconds, which causes the particles of the design to bond with the material and become permanent. The printed product can then be washed and worn without fear of the design fading away.
  • When should I choose sublimation for my apparel?
Sublimation is best suited for apparel, such as t-shirts, bags, hats, and socks, that are made out of synthetic fabrics such as polyester. Sublimation is also great for fabric that has unique shapes and curves that more traditional printing methods are unable to achieve and is ideal for the vibrant and eye-catching full-colour designs that are popular with t-shirts and other apparel.
  • What is Direct to Film
Direct To Film is a digital printing method that utilizes digital files such as vector files, high-resolution images, and other digital artwork to create print-ready files. These files are sent directly to a large-format printer, which then prints onto a polyester substrate. The result is a highly detailed and vibrant print that can be used to create a wide variety of printed fabric items such as t-shirts, jackets, and sportswear. Direct To Film printing is a great way to produce artwork quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively. The DirectTo Film method is when the artwork or graphics is printed onto a film which is then used to transfer the image to apparel. This method eliminates the often expensive steps of creating a screen printing film and the need to burn screens for screen printing.
